61, Lewy Body Disease and the 10 Commandments

I’ve just discovered this website. Very nice. This link is for Lewy Body Dementia but it can be used for other info as well.

And thanks to my best man, Ed, for sending me this email. It’s a nice abbreviated form for those of us with dementia! Wink

Ten Commandments

Some people have trouble with all those ‘shall’s’ and ‘shall not’s’ in the Ten Commandments.. Folks just aren’t used to talking in those terms. So, in middle Tennessee they translated the ‘King James’ into ‘ Jackson County ‘
language…..no joke (posted on the wall at Cross Trails Church in Gainesboro , TN ).

(1) Just one God
(2) Put nothin’ before God
(3) Watch yer mouth
(4) Git yourself to Sunday meetin’
(5) Honor yer Ma & Pa
(6) No killin’
(7) No foolin’ around with another fellow’s gal
(8) Don’t take what ain’t yers
(9) No tellin’ tales or gossipin’
(10) Don’t be hankerin’ for yer buddy’s stuff

Sshhh. Today is my 61st — Birthday Cake

Warmly……….David

  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, David! Another ‘day’s march nearer Home’, as the old hymn says.

It’s amazing to think that fifty years from now we’ll all be with the Lord – and even more amazing to think that He might return even sooner, and sweep us all up.

Just think! Resurrection bodies! A nice size 10 for me, please! But they’ll be perfect. No this or that, but more than we can think or imagine.

    Again – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

(PS: my manuscript for the 2nd book went off this morning to the publisher – thank God!)

  12. Happy birthday. Thank you for the commandments. I’m a “Yankee” transplant in the South and at times need to “acclimate” myself to the differences in the culture here lol!

  16. Dear Dr. David,

I hope you don’t mind me calling you David. My brother was recently diagnosed with LBD but upon thinking back, he’s probably had it for years. We thought he was just getting tired, cantankerous and lazy. What a pity that we didn’t realize sooner what he was going through. I stumbled upon your blog while trying to find help for my brother and his wife.
You are a brilliant, insightful, sensitive, courageous and generous man beyond words for allowing us into your mind. My heartfealt thanks for all you have done and will do in the future to help us understand and help our loved ones. I have sent the link to your blog to my sister in law so she can also gain more insight into LBD and confidence in her care of my brother. I feel that your blog should be printed in a handbook and distributed to nursing homes and psychiatrists. It is truly a gift.

    Warmest wishes,

    Lois
