Wandering VS. Getting Lost in Individuals with Dementia

The Alzheimer’s Association reports that of the estimated 5.3 million Americans living with the AD, six out of 10 will wander from their homes or care giving facilities at some point during their illness.

  1. Thank you David, This is great! I installed locks on all outside doors several years ago, and always carry the keys on me. Very few nights have passed that my dear husband didn’t try to leave the house. I will find every secondary lock in the unlocked position the next morning. It is such a relief to know he is safe, and I was allowed to sleep what I could. After all, I do get up with him, otherwise, at least three times a night.
