Update April 2018

It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted here. Much has happened since my last writing. After my wife passed away, I moved back to California for approximately three years.

I seemed to be functioning well cognitively. However, I slowly had more difficulty navigating with slowing of walking and other body movements. Additionally, I had bilateral knee replacements. I  became frightened that I would eventually not be able to drive back across the country to be with my family if I continued to deteriorate physically.

I returned to Pennsylvania in October 2016. I am currently residing in a senior center in the independent living section. The Parkinson’s disease has worsened but taking Sinemet gives enough relief that I can go out every 7-10 days. Sadly, I am experiencing gradual memory changes. I continue to knit and crochet. My neurologist says that knitting is one of the best activities to do!!

On the upbeat side of things, I find myself less politically correct and just say what I want to with less mental filtering. Wouldn’t be good on a job, but it is very freeing. I tend to care about spelling errors and correct punctuation. I continue to enjoy everyday living. I am probably the most relaxed that I have ever been in my life!
